Flat White – What’s the difference?

The flat white is one of the most talked about coffee drinks with many people asking: how is it different? Well, like other coffee drinks - it's all in the craft of its two components: espresso and milk.

What makes a flat white unique though is the balance of coffee to milk. A good barista can steam the milk in such a way to make it light and creamy; the texture of double cream. And, when combined with a shorter, sweeter tasting espresso - meaning a shorter extraction compared to a cappuccino or latte - the end result is a coffee drink that tastes as powerful as it does smooth.

If you're looking for a coffee that is creamier than a cappuccino but less milky than a latte, you're looking for a flat white.

The Espresso

Described as "the best espresso this side of Milan" we're proud of our blend: distinctively rich, with notes of dark chocolate, caramel, and hints of fruit.

We've spent years (nearly 20) perfecting our espresso, paying attention to our craft each day to ensure that great flavour comes to life in every coffee we make.

Milk Matters

Did you know that milk is at its sweetest when heated to 50-60°C? And that we alter the steaming method slightly depending on the coffee you order? Our short film will tell you more.
