Our Company
EUROPE’S LEADING INDEPENDENT COFFEE HOUSE BRAND
We are proud of the espresso that made our reputation. The quest for better coffee inspired the first Caffè Nero in 1997 and sustaining that ambition
and excellence remains at the heart of everything we do. No cutting corners, stay focused on excellence and treat people with kindness.
That is why we have grown: one coffee, one customer and one store at a time.
Even though we now have over 1000 coffee houses around the world, we continue to reinvest and work hard to improve. The pursuit of excellence,
determination and resilience that got us started, is still present in everything we do today.
OUR ETHICAL APPROACH
When we started Caffè Nero, our intention was to cultivate a set of values, internally and externally, that we all could be proud of.
We have come from a grass roots organisation which started off in an office above our cafe. From the beginning, we embraced the values of fairness, decency, warmth, kindness and the pursuit of excellence.
Our approach to coffee sourcing is no different. We owe our reputation to sourcing high quality beans, and we pay premium prices for those beans.
At present, the vast majority of the beans in our unique blend are sourced from identifiable and traceable sources, and we are working hard to ensure we purchase every bean this way.
We are also working with Rainforest Alliance on the certification of our beans and on encouraging sustainable livelihoods for our farmers.
Our commitment goes into other avenues as well. We are careful to recycle or recover as much of our waste as we possibly can. We strive to avoid sending waste to landfill, and we are always investigating ways to reduce our environmental impact further.

COFFEE & ROASTERY
From farm to cup, we are devoted to the highest standards in quality, craftsmanship and sustainability. Our beans are Rainforest Alliance certified and grown by farmers we know and trust.
Gaetano and Carlos – our senior Master Coffee Roasters – have over 70 years’ experience between them creating rich, remarkable coffee. They personally taste every batch we make before it leaves our Roastery. And our baristas undertake months of training to meet our standards in tailoring coffee to our customers’ taste.
It’s our coffee, at the heart of everything we do. We never, ever compromise on its quality.
FOOD
We use fresh, authentic ingredients to create good, uncomplicated food, served all day, every day. From traditional panini to signature sweets, we like to adapt our menu to the time of day and local taste.
Where we can, we build kitchens in our stores and always take the time to form partnerships with local food purveyors and farmers that share our obsessive standards to provenance.
Every morning we freshly bake our pastries, and once a month our Head Chef lets us try new recipe ideas; this is, by far, our favourite day of the month.

PEOPLE
At every stage of our coffee’s journey, there is someone at Caffè Nero personally responsible for ensuring it is as good as it can be.
From the farmers who grow our beans to the baristas who tailor each drink, our quest for coffee excellence is founded on the skill, effort and dedication of everyone in our family. Day in, day out.
We have always believed in people who like people. And that getting to know our customers means they have a better experience. It is why at Caffè Nero, the barista who takes the customer’s order makes their coffee. A small thing, maybe. But a lot of small things can end up making a big difference.
