Our Roasting Rituals
Have you ever wondered how coffee is roasted? These are, and always have been, our roasting rituals; this is the way we do it.
Capturing the subtle flavor that makes our coffee so rich and aromatic requires a combination of expertise and method. These are our roasting rituals.
Not just any bean makes it into our unique blend. We go to great lengths and heights for the very best.
Our blend has remained the same unique blend since the year that our founder and owner, Gerry Ford, spent months working and crafting with John Ritzy, a master coffee roaster, and his Probat in a small room beneath London Bridge.
He knew exactly what he was looking for to start Caffè Nero: that rich, persistent roast that spoke of his time living in Italy and that has now become so familiar to us all. It was 1997, almost 20-years ago.
The beans required to achieve this distinctive flavour, however, aren’t easy to find. We source handpicked beans from higher altitudes and rich soils across a variety of origins to get the kind of quality that will complement our meticulous roasting methods, providing the richness and flavour that we simply won’t compromise on.
After all these years, we’ve come to think of it as an art. There’s no rushing, no short cuts, and it is a journey that lends itself better to illustration than words. These are, and always have been, our roasting rituals.
